  • One-to-one Support

Our one-to-one counselling support and information service will provide you with individual support. DVR support ranges from providing information on your options to counselling sessions. Sessions can be in person or over the phone.

DVR services are free and confidential.

Our support workers help you to:

  • explore your options
  • create a safety plan for yourself and children if necessary
  • learn about abusive patterns and perpetrator types
  • provide you with emotional support
  • understand and deal with the impact of abuse
  • recognise and cope with post separation abuse
  • provide practical supports, including housing and financial issues

DVR support workers are highly skilled, experienced and very approachable. You will be allocated a support worker who will provide consistent support to you throughout your journey. One-to-one sessions can be on a once-off or ongoing basis, according to your needs.

Support for women 55 years and over

Women can suffer domestic abuse at any age. DVR works with women of all ages and we have specialised supports for women 55 years and over.

“I did not believe I was worthy of care or compassion, yet there was my DVR therapist showing it to me. Gently yet firmly she showed me the path out of my pain. I did not believe I could recover myself, yet here I am.”

Flexible appointments

We know it can be difficult to juggle everything and for that reason, we can arrange a daytime or evening appointment.

Our free and confidential services are available in person and over the phone (or Zoom) for women at various locations Galway and including our main base in Moycullen, County Galway.

Monday to Thursday: Scheduled daytime or evening appointments are available.
Friday: Appointments are available during the day only.
