1992 - 1997

  • Letterfrack Women’s Group and group of individuals joined together to campaign for supports in rural Connemara
  • Funding secured to create a service
  • Board of Diretors identified and trained


  • Opened first office in Recess National School Connemara
  • Recruited trainer and trained staff and volunteers to provide services

  • Began to provide outreach, support and advocacy services in North and South Connemara

  • Produced Living to Tell the Tale and Home Truths - Educational Resources
  • Provided group support to 30 women in North and South Connemara.
  • Provided face tot face and phone support to   new clients in 2001
  • Produced I know a Women poetry booklet


  • Moved to office in Oughterard
  • Produced teenage educational resource Life's Real Fairytale
  • Began school educational work with transition year students in Galway City and County
  • Provided support to 99 Clients
  • 139 client appointments

2009 - 2012

  • Experienced severe cuts in funding
  • Established outreach rooms in Triskel Healing Centre, Salthill, Galway
  • Registered as a charity
  • Developed staff training and employment manual
  • 2009: Provided 97 court accompaniments
  • 2012: 119 new clients
  • Commenced annual lecture with Maynooth on Domestic Violence and Rural Women's Issues

2014 - 2017

  • Developed and delivered educational support programmes for women
  • Initiated Parenting in the Aftermath of Domestic Violence Support Programmes
  • Provided support to 245 clients in 2017
