Violence of this nature is not a once-off occurance, but is persistant, frequent and aimed at instilling fear into the victim.

 

RURAL SERVICE

There are additional aggravating issues related to domestic violence that are unique to women and children living in rural areas of Ireland.

These include:

  • Physical Isolation.
  • Emotional Isolation - lack of support from family or friends.
  • Lack of access to transport or telephone.
  • Services not cited locally.
  • Lack of confidentiality and anonymity in accessing services.
  • Inappropriate responses from service providers because abusers may be know the gardai, GP etc.

These are issues with which we are familiar and we guarantee that we can work with our clients despite this.
